The Shawangunk Fish and Game Association is one of the oldest premier outdoor sporting clubs in New York State. Established in 1902, and incorporated in 1950, the club has been endorsing hunting, (trap, pistol, and rifle) shooting, archery, fishing, and environmental conservation/forestry ever since.
Our organization sits on 198 acres in the Town of Wallkill and borders Middletown New York. We offer three trap ranges, five outdoor ranges, a 1.5 acre pond, an archery range and hunting opportunities. We also offer other off-campus properties for sporting activities. Our top priority is always safety!
Our shooting range consists of four 50 yard ranges and one 150 yard range, and all of our ranges are sheltered. Our club hosts Steel Plate Challenge sanctioned matches, once a month from April through November. You can find us on Practiscore.com. Steel Plate Challenges are open to the public.
Our 3 Trap Ranges are open to the public during the warm seasons on Wednesdays and Fridays starting at 6PM and on Sunday’s starting at noon. The Winter Season Schedule includes Wednesday nights from 4-9PM, and on Saturday and Sunday mornings beginning at noon. We host ATA shoots, league shoots Hudson Valley Youth Trap Leagues, and a junior trap league. We have organized shoots for fun to include ham and turkey shoots, along with buddy shoots.
We stock our 1.5-acre pond with trout twice per year. The pond offers other fishing opportunities on a catch and release program to include largemouth bass, perch, catfish and plenty of blue gills that kids love to fish for. When the cold season is just right, we also open up for ice fishing and ice fishing derbies.
Our club is a member of the National Resources Conservation Services Program, an agency of the United States Department of Agriculture. We are also a partner with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. We stand for and take part in initiatives for responsible forestry, land and insect management, and soil conservation to keep our woods healthy, beautiful, and undisturbed for the next generation and many generations to come.
Throughout each year and for decades past, Shawangunk Fish and Game Association holds and has held several community events including U.S. Veteran and first responder family appreciation days of fishing, food, and entertainment, children’s fishing derbies, a flea market, wild game dinners, steaks and stogies dinners, a clam bake and chicken barbecue as well as events on holidays and family days for our members. Our 100’ x 40’ pavilion and cook-shack are also available for rental throughout the year. The cookshack is equipped with a full kitchen for your use. Outdoor plumbed bathroom facilities are open, weather permitting.
Our club is a good neighbor to our community and we are very happy to support U.S. Veterans, law enforcement and first responders. Our campus is conveniently located for frequent use by law enforcement for professional training and events to help them remain current which contributes to keeping our community safe.  We are also to proud to host free events in partnership with multiple Veterans organizations and local businesses who work together with us to provide free food and entertainment to them at these events.
